Locum Veterinary Surgeon - Kirkwall Orkney
Looking for something exciting on the Orkney Islands ? This is a mixed practice but would consider farm or small animal Vet too. A little branch work involved to cover the small islands We use ferries, small planes and fast boats to access the smaller Isles and theres usually a vet out on these Islands 2-3 days per week. During spring time we are busy with caesarean sections. If our locum is a small animal vet then they wouldnt participate on the on call rota - their role would be Monday - Friday and alternate Saturday mornings. Accommodation and a car can be provided and our working day usually runs from 8.30am - 5.30pm/6.00pm. They have 10 vets in the practice - each day they have 3 on small animals, one on call (off during the day having been on overnight) and the rest on farm work with a wee bit of equine. The farm work is predominantly beef herds with some sheep and dairy. Located just off the northern tip of Scotland we are lucky to enjoy lots of sandy beaches, wildlife and stunning scenery. They regularly see dolphins and whales (mainly Orca) and usually have many festivals throughout the year. They are in the fortunate position that we have had very few cases of COVID19 so we would require the locum vet to isolate on arrival. To get away from it all and enjoy this beautiful place please call us on 01280 850575.
