Veterinary Surgeon - East Devon
Salary £45,000-£65,000, depending on experience
Would you like to work in a genuinely independent practice where you have time to do the job properly, excellent clinical equipment and support, and a life outside work?
We are recruiting for a small animal vet for a fully independent, family- and vet-owned small animal practice in beautiful East Devon. They have two branches, both RCVS Practice Standards Scheme GP accredited, and proudly offer high-quality first-opinion care in a friendly, supportive and well-equipped environment.
Full-time or part-time applicants are very welcome - in fact, most of their vets work part-time. Their philosophy is to build the job around the right person.
The standard consults are 20 minutes, giving you time to work cases up properly, build relationships with clients, and practise in a way that feels sustainable. There are no OOH nights at all, and weekends are limited to a 1:4 Saturday morning consult rota.
You would be joining a strong clinical team, working alongside a medical certificate veterinary surgeon, and a medicine diploma holder and European Specialist. The Practice Manager, is formerly of The Ralph and Fitzpatrick Referrals. They also have a superb RVN team who are central to how the practice runs and provide excellent support to our vets, and a team of friendly and capable reception staff.
Both of our sites have digital X-ray, Doppler ultrasound and digital tonometry, and our Colyton site has keyhole surgery facilities, with clean, modern clinical spaces and a team that genuinely cares about doing things well.
The offer:
• Salary of £45,000-£65,000 depending on experience
• 20-minute consults as standard
• No OOH at all
• 1:4 Saturday mornings only
• Full-time or part-time options
• £1,500 pro-rata CPD budget, which can be used partly for travel and accommodation
• Perks including cost-price pet care, VDS cover, RCVS membership paid, and a professional membership of your choice, eg BSAVA.
• Two RCVS PSS-GP accredited branches
• Support from certificate, diploma and specialist-level colleagues
• Keyhole surgery, Doppler ultrasound, digital tonometry and digital X-rays at both sites
