Permanent Vet Surgeon Sole Charge Role over 2 sites in South London
sole charge salary band is £60,000 to £75,000 (FTE) depending on experience and allowing room for growth within the role
This is a sole charge position, and you will be comfortable with routine GP consultations and surgery, but ample support is provided by management in the region.
The rota includes a 1:4 branch Saturday rotation and 1:10 Sunday rotation in the Hospital plus 1-2 bank holidays per year. There are NO on-call requirements. There can be flexibility to how your weekly rota can look, involving 3 or 4 days across both sites.
As a sole charge branch vet some of your duties will include:
- Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.
- Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.
- Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
- Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets` histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
- Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.
- Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment
- Work alongside your RVN to ensure branch meetings are scheduled and the clinics SOP`s are being actioned
- Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.
