Permanent Head Nurse Position available in Hampshire
Salary up to £38,000 pa DOE
A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse to join and lead a nursing team at a busy practice. This is a full-time, permanent role for someone who`s already stepped into a senior or head nurse position and is confident managing the day-to-day clinical operations of a busy practice.
The Role
40 hours per week, with shifts between 8am and 7pm
1 in 4 Saturdays 8.30am-4pm
4 Sunday Shifts per year 8.30am - 4pm At the Basingstoke Branch
This role is both hands-on and strategic. You`ll play a key part in keeping the clinical team running smoothly leading by example, supporting your colleagues, and ensuring high standards across the board.
What You`ll Be Doing
Leading and supporting the nursing and PCA team on the clinical floor
Overseeing anaesthesia, in-patient care, and surgical support
Supporting vets in consults, procedures, and advanced cases
Managing workflow, rotas, stock control, and equipment maintenance
Mentoring junior staff and assisting with training and development
Working with the Senior Management Team on continuous improvement
Maintaining strong communication with the team and clients alike
What We`re Looking For
A qualified and registered veterinary nurse (RVN)
Previous experience as a Head Nurse or in a senior nursing role
Confident in clinical and surgical nursing, with a high standard of care
A team player with strong communication and leadership skills
Calm, organised, and capable of supporting others under pressure
Comfortable making decisions and helping shape team culture
Clinical coach desirable
