Fully equipped practice with-in house MiLab blood machines, IV fluid pumps, digital radiographs, dental radiographs and ultrasound. They do see some exotics (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, ferrets) but experience in this area is not essential. One vet consults all day and the other does a mixture of consults and surgery. They have three to four procedures/surgeries booked each day. Two RVNs look after the surgery and medical patients, one support staff on reception and one support staff in the office answering phone calls/dealing with emails. 20 days annual leave, plus bank holidays (pro rata) and CPD allowance. Accommodation is available. If you wish to have accommodation, then you will be responsible for being on call 1 week on with 1 week off. Monday-Friday only. On call is checking in-patients at 8pm and 10pm. It is not very common that they have in-patients, however, they can have patients admitted up until 6pm so you do need to be available on your weeks on. The pet owner is made aware that the checks are only at 8pm and 10pm. If the vet feels the patient requires hospitalisation at a 24-hour practice, they will refer the patient before 6pm. They have two RVN clinical coaches who are instrumental in the continuing education of the keen and very able students. Ideal start - June 2024 The practice would like a Nurse for a 6 months placement. salary is $25,000 The schedule is a 5 week rota, 40 hours a week which includes on call as well. Typically, the nurse who leaves at 7.30 p.m. is the RVN on call and will also do 1 out of 5 weekends on call, a total of 7 nights on call over the 5 week period. Being on the on call rota is included in the salary but if you get called in, you will get paid extra for the time worked. Any time over the 40 hour week is overtime and is paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate. There is also a Public Holiday rota and any hours on that day /night is paid 2 times the hourly rate. The practice will pay for you, one round trip flight from the UK. (They cannot accommodate family members) Rental Accommodation will be provided with a rent of about $1,500 per month. Wifi, TV and water is included in the rent. The only utility you have to pay in addition is electricity, which runs about $100 - $150 a month. The apartment has all furnishings, so you only need your personal items and clothes. Paid vacation and paid sick leave is 1 week each for the six month period. A motor bike will be provided for you, the Islands main form of transport, but you will pay for running costs i.e. gas. The practice will also pay any costs in getting your driver`s license and you will have 2 month`s to obtain your licence. The practice will pay for all costs associated with the work permit that is required, however they may ask you to prepay for instance your medical certificate and passport photos but they will reimburse the cost plus any courier costs etc. There isn`t a lot of paperwork for the permit but the practice is always on hand to help, it really isn`t onerous and they will walk you through it. They do see some exotics (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, ferrets) but experience in this area is not essential. Looking for a RVN to cover maternity leave from middle of July 2024 onwards. It is currently 6-month availability but with a potential to stay longer if the staff member does not return to work after the maternity leave ends. They are advertising early to have time to arrange interviews which means you can meet the team and they can find the right candidate for the position. The role is mainly surgery/medical nursing with some nurse consultations.
